Intuit is testing an artificial intelligence (AI) tool in its Intuit Accountant Suite to prepare monthly accounting close work for a limited group of firms, with accountants retaining review and approval authority.

Agentic Books Close prepares work under each firm’s standards, including account reconciliations, anomaly flags and recommended fixes. The system logs its actions.

Intuit announced Agentic Books Close at Intuit Connect, held Oct. 26-28 in Las Vegas. The announcement follows an earlier preview of Intuit Connect updates. Intuit has not announced a general-availability date for the pilot.

Agentic Books Close is separate from Books Close, which is in beta and available at no additional cost in Core and Accelerate plans.

Dixie McCurley, Intuit’s managing partner in residence, said AI could make it possible for accountants to advise clients daily. “It doesn’t have to happen four months at the end of the year. Now we can do that every single day,” she said. McCurley was discussing AI’s broader potential; Agentic Books Close is a monthly-close tool.
