Rivian plans to end the fourth quarter at a positive automotive gross profit run rate, setting a quarter-end profitability target even though it does not expect positive automotive gross profit for the full quarter.

The automaker’s 2026 delivery outlook is now 67,000 to 70,000 vehicles. Rivian expects its R2 model to make up most fourth-quarter deliveries. Scaling R2 production added about $120 million in costs, and supplier ramp-up remains a constraint.

Rivian booked $605 million in Software and Services sales and $256 million in gross profit, with the Volkswagen partnership providing a substantial revenue contribution. The revised outlook builds on earlier coverage of analyst views on Rivian, which discussed delivery growth, R2 adoption and the company’s path to profitability.
