Chainlink activated an integration on Base for publishing S&P Global Ratings’ Vault Risk Assessments, extending risk analysis to a lending-vault market estimated at $10 billion as of September 2026. Chainlink announced the launch Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. ET (13:00 UTC), naming Base as its first supported blockchain.

Chainlink DataLink provides the publishing service. Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) organizes the process of retrieving assessment information and preparing it for release. A decentralized Chainlink oracle network gathers the underlying data, establishes an agreed value and transmits it onchain.

Lending-vault deposits were estimated at $10 billion as of September 2026, up from $1.5 billion two years earlier.

A Vault Risk Assessment (VRA) evaluates the relative risk of impairment for someone with a position in a lending vault. It considers portfolio credit quality and liquidity mismatch, as well as risks tied to the curator, blockchain, protocol, security and governance. Its letter scale uses a “(v)” suffix, with AAA(v) representing the lowest relative risk. A VRA is not a credit rating and does not evaluate yield.

Lending vaults pool deposits and deploy them under a defined strategy. Their onchain transaction histories show activity, but may provide limited insight into how a vault’s risk profile changes. The VRA framework examines factors beyond transaction activity, including the quality of the portfolio and the vault’s operational risks.

The integration extends earlier work between Chainlink and S&P Global Ratings to publish Stablecoin Stability Assessments onchain. S&P announced that collaboration in October 2025. The ratings firm introduced its vault-risk framework Oct. 4 and said initial assessments would be announced later, as outlined in its framework launch.

Chainlink’s Oct. 28 announcement named no vaults and provided no individual VRA results.
