Robinhood and C2FO Plan Ripple USD (RLUSD) Settlement on XRP Ledger

Ripple’s products enabled more than $16 trillion in transactions in 2025, but the figure has no breakdown by product or settlement asset.

Plans from Robinhood and C2FO to settle transactions in Ripple USD (RLUSD) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) add new use cases for Ripple’s network, but the announcements provide no transaction totals or XRP amounts to connect the activity to demand for its native asset.

Ripple announced its Robinhood partnership Tuesday, Oct. 27. The agreement gives Robinhood an institutional RLUSD settlement use on XRPL and brings Ripple Treasury into its operations. C2FO and Ripple announced an initiative to bring C2FO’s Instant Pay service onto XRPL, with RLUSD used for settlement.

RLUSD was expected to become available in Robinhood’s app later in 2026. C2FO gave no launch date for its initiative, and neither announcement included an expected settlement volume.

Ripple’s products enabled more than $16 trillion in transactions during 2025, but the figure has no product-by-product or settlement-asset breakdown. It therefore does not establish how much activity involved XRP. The new plans add detail about services using RLUSD on XRPL, but not about the amount of XRP involved.

The settlement asset and the network are separate parts of a payment. XRP can serve as a bridge in less-liquid currency corridors, while RLUSD can be used for dollar-denominated transactions when a bridge is not needed. A payment can therefore use XRPL while RLUSD is the asset being transferred for settlement.

Using XRPL still involves XRP-denominated network fees. The current minimum fee for a standard transaction is 10 drops, or 0.00001 XRP, and the fee is destroyed. At that minimum, one million standard transactions would destroy 10 XRP. Fees can rise with network load, but the fee is not a percentage of the dollar value transferred. It gives XRP a role in ledger operations without making Ripple’s product-wide transaction figure a measure of XRP demand.

Robinhood app availability for RLUSD was expected later in 2026; C2FO has not set a launch date. The announced plans identify RLUSD as the settlement asset, while leaving their transaction volumes undisclosed.
