Magnificent Seven May Trail S&P 500 Peers in Q3 Earnings Growth
Their combined EPS growth estimate has fallen from 33.6% a month ago to 22.6%, versus 32.6% for the index’s other 493 companies.

Analyst John Butters’ estimates put the Magnificent Seven’s combined third-quarter earnings per share (EPS) growth at 22.6%, below the 32.6% forecast for the S&P 500’s other 493 companies. If the estimates hold, it would be the first time since the fourth quarter of 2022 that the group trails the rest of the index in earnings growth.
The group’s forecast has fallen from 33.6% a month ago. So far this quarter, five of the seven companies have EPS growth below that of the other 493 S&P 500 members. Nvidia and Apple have not announced their latest quarterly results.
Analysts expect the trend to continue in the fourth quarter. An earlier fourth-quarter forecast also projected stronger earnings growth for the S&P 500’s other 493 companies than for the Magnificent Seven.
