AstraZeneca shares gained 7.02% on the New York Stock Exchange Friday, Oct. 30, the same day the drugmaker released third-quarter results and outlined a restructuring program.

At the NYSE close at 4 p.m. ET (2000 UTC), AstraZeneca (AZN) was $186.65, up $12.25 from the previous close of $174.40. The S&P 500 fell 1.8% that day, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.9%. The company’s results and restructuring announcement came before U.S. trading began.

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $16.209 billion, up 7% at actual and constant exchange rates. Company-adjusted Core EPS was $2.79 per share, up 17% at actual exchange rates and 19% at constant rates. Core EPS is an adjusted measure that accounts for items including intangible-asset amortization, impairments, legal settlements and restructuring charges.

Growth differed across business areas. Oncology revenue increased 17% at constant exchange rates to $7.765 billion, and rare disease revenue rose 10% to $2.633 billion. Cardiovascular, renal and metabolism revenue fell 18% to $2.639 billion.

AstraZeneca reconfirmed its 2026 outlook for mid-to-high single-digit total revenue growth and low double-digit Core EPS growth at constant exchange rates.

The company’s three-year “Reshaping for Sustainable Growth” program targets up to $2 billion in one-time restructuring charges and $1.5 billion in annualized pretax run-rate benefits. These are targets, not savings already realized. AstraZeneca plans to reinvest the savings mainly in its pipeline and expects the program to be essentially complete by the end of 2029.
