Bangladesh garment factories resumed operations Monday after weekend wage protests disrupted production, as workers pushed for a $241 monthly minimum wage above the current level.

The protests had forced 529 garment factories to suspend operations. Bangladesh established a wage review board Sunday as demonstrations escalated.

Workers are demanding a monthly minimum wage of 30,000 taka, equivalent to $241. The current minimum wage is 12,500 taka.
