Prop Firm Match Admits Affiliate Redirect as Firms End Deals

The platform gave no click or commission totals. Topstep had no affiliate code but paid $10,000 per month for a listing.

Prop Firm Match acknowledged that clicks on firm profiles or promo-code controls had sent visitors to partner websites through its affiliate links, as several proprietary trading firms ended their affiliate relationships with the comparison platform.

The statement followed an Oct. 29 post by trader Kane, who said the site redirected a background browser tab through an affiliate link when users clicked internal profile or code controls. Prop Firm Match said on Oct. 30 that the behavior “should not have happened” and that it took full responsibility. The platform said it had contacted partners to review the issue and reconcile inaccuracies but did not disclose how many clicks, sales or commissions were involved.

Archived JavaScript captures show the redirect in code from Nov. 30, 2025, through Oct. 24, 2026. A capture saved at 8:23 p.m. ET Oct. 29 (00:23 UTC Oct. 30) showed the function returning false. The archived code indicated a different sequence from the platform’s account: it sent the destination page to a separate tab and routed the starting tab through the affiliate link. The archive does not show how many users were affected or whether the behavior led to commission payments.

The referrals could have been difficult for firms to distinguish from ordinary affiliate traffic. No company has published tracking records to confirm how much traffic or commission was affected.

Apex Trader Funding said it ended its affiliate relationship immediately and disabled tracking codes. Goat Funded Trader said it ended its partnership after a review. Tradeify said its review found that referrals broke its affiliate terms.

Not every commercial tie was an affiliate deal. Topstep founder and CEO Michael Patak said the firm had no affiliate code but paid Prop Firm Match $10,000 per month for a listing.
