Cipher Reports 3.4 GW of Potential Grid Capacity in 5.9-GW Pipeline
Q3 2026 revenue fell 62.8% year over year, while the company recorded its first high-performance computing lease revenue.

Cipher Digital reported Nov. 2 that its power-development pipeline totals about 5.9 gigawatts, comprising 3.4 GW of potential grid capacity and as much as 2.5 GW of possible on-site natural gas generation. The update accompanied Q3 2026 results as the company expands high-performance computing (HPC) leasing alongside its Bitcoin mining business.
Revenue for the third quarter of 2026 was $26.7 million, compared with $71.7 million a year earlier, a 62.8% decline. Bitcoin mining generated $20.85 million, while HPC leasing brought in $5.85 million in the company’s first revenue from that business. Adjusted EBITDA was negative $9.96 million.
The 3.4 GW figure is potential grid capacity, not power already physically connected. It remains subject to ERCOT’s Batch Zero process. Cipher has a conditional base-load classification for 1 GW at its Colchis site and additional designations covering 1.6 GW through the process. Final outcomes are expected in December 2026.
Possible on-site gas generation offers another route in the company’s pipeline while the grid process continues. Cipher also acquired a 70-megawatt site that it is targeting for energization by 2029.
The company amended its Barber Lake lease to a 20-year term, bringing contracted revenue at the site to about $9.1 billion. Page described the quarter as a step forward for Cipher amid growing demand for computing capacity. He also pointed to deeper relationships with hyperscalers and AI labs.
The broader demand context includes a global data-center power capacity forecast of 161 GW for 2026. That measure covers computing equipment and supporting systems such as cooling and power infrastructure; it tracks capacity rather than electricity consumed.
The next milestone for Cipher’s potential grid capacity is the expected release of final Batch Zero outcomes in December 2026.
