85% of StraitsX’s stablecoin-backed card transactions were below $50, offering a company-level measure of stablecoin use in everyday payments.

Examples of routine purchases included groceries and diapers. StraitsX processes more than $500 million in card payments per month; the measurement period was not specified.

The 85% figure counts transactions, not the share of total spending. Liu did not specify the period it covers or provide a breakdown by merchant category.

“This is for everyday usage,” Liu said.

StraitsX’s card model uses stablecoins in the funding or settlement flow. Cardholders pay with Visa credentials, while merchants receive fiat through conventional card-network processes.

StraitsX’s card programs in Asia had surpassed $6 billion in annualized card gross transaction value. That is a run-rate figure; the Oct. 15 announcement did not specify the calculation window.

On Oct. 15, StraitsX and Visa announced expanded issuing capabilities for eligible card programs in more than 100 markets, subject to regulatory, compliance and Visa requirements. The announcement did not say cards are active in all those markets.

The company-level figures add detail to September stablecoin-card spending data. Earlier coverage of StraitsX’s exploratory payment plans described card programs as under consideration.
