Ryanair Plans €800 Million Buyback to Begin in February 2027
The airline expects a €2 billion fuel-cost increase in FY2028 and says higher fares may not cover the full rise.

Ryanair plans to begin an €800 million share buyback in February 2027 as it expects FY2028 fuel costs to climb by €2 billion, a rise it does not expect higher fares to cover fully.
The airline’s planned response includes fare increases, labor-cost measures and opportunistic fuel hedging. Ryanair’s FY2027 passenger target is 214 million, down from 216 million; TokenPost previously covered the 214 million projection in its report on the airline’s second-quarter results.
Passenger traffic rose 6% in the first half, while fares fell 4% during the peak summer period. Fares have risen since early August, and third-quarter fares are trending modestly above year-earlier levels.
Ryanair described fourth-quarter visibility as nearly zero amid fuel-price and geopolitical uncertainty. It expects passenger traffic to reach 220 million next year, supported by 16 MAX-10 aircraft and about 3% capacity growth.
