Sysco kept its fiscal 2027 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) growth outlook at 9% to 11%, while moving its sales growth expectation to the low end of its range after first-quarter sales rose 2.8%.

The 13-week quarter ended Sept. 26, 2026. Sales totaled $21.744 billion, compared with $21.148 billion a year earlier, an increase of $596 million. Sysco now expects full-year sales growth at the low end of its 6% to 7% range amid lower industry inflation.

The 6% to 7% range itself remains in place. Sysco also maintained its adjusted EPS growth outlook and its assumption for local volume growth of about 2.5%. That full-year volume assumption is separate from case-volume growth measured during the quarter.

Adjusted diluted EPS was $1.19, up 3.5% from $1.15 a year earlier. GAAP diluted EPS rose 10.1% to $1.09 from $0.99. Adjusted EPS is a non-GAAP per-share measure calculated under Sysco’s methodology. The company excludes certain costs from adjusted results, primarily acquisition-related costs, restructuring and severance costs, and transformation project costs.

Gross profit rose 3.8% to $4.051 billion, and gross margin widened to 18.63% from 18.45%, an increase of 0.18 percentage point. Operating income fell 10.4% to $717 million, while adjusted operating income rose 3.2% to $927 million.

U.S. Foodservice case volume grew 2.6%, including 2.7% growth in local case volume. CEO Kevin Hourican described the quarter as marked by “continued softness in restaurant foot traffic.”

Sysco recorded a $234 million gain in other income from rate-lock transactions related to financing its planned Jetro Restaurant Depot acquisition.

CFO Brandon Sewell said full-year sales growth was expected at “the lower end of our 6%-7% range.” Sysco appointed Sewell executive vice president and CFO effective Nov. 1, after he had served as interim CFO since March 2026. The company announced the appointment Nov. 3.

Sysco scheduled its results call for 10 a.m. ET (1500 UTC) Tuesday, Nov. 3.
