SMX Repeats Plastics Recycling Case Without New Market Measurements
The company describes an “Age of Parity” as a convergence in the economics of virgin and recycled plastic, but provides no measurements for a defined market.
SMX (Security Matters) Public Limited renewed its case for tracking plastics on Nov. 4, arguing that recycling economics are shifting but providing no market measurements to quantify the convergence it describes.
SMX calls that convergence the “Age of Parity,” referring to the economics of virgin and recycled plastic. Its Nov. 4 statement gives no prices, resin type, region or observation period for the convergence it describes. “It is becoming something they do because the economics demand it,” SMX said of recycling.
SMX describes a system that places a molecular marker in plastic and associates it with a digital record of characteristics such as origin, composition and recycled content. The company’s Nov. 4 statement closely matches its Oct. 7 statement and announces no new customer, deployment or measured technology result.
On Sept. 8, SMX announced a four-layer plastics platform: Material, Passport, Market and Credit. The company offered a virtual client experience and a free trial using participants’ own plastic, but identified no participants or trial results.
