Taiwan Solar Firms Expand U.S. Capacity With Two One-Gigawatt Projects

碩禾 began mass production on its second phase in October. A separate module plant planned by 聯合再生 and 中美晶 is expected to start production in 2027.

Two Taiwan-based solar firms are advancing U.S. module projects with one gigawatt of annual capacity each, expanding manufacturing as Democrats’ midterm wins lift market expectations for stronger clean-energy support.

碩禾’s second U.S. production phase entered mass production in October, adding one gigawatt of annual capacity. Its first phase, a 500-megawatt line, is operating at full capacity. 碩禾 acquired U.S. solar module production equipment in 2025 and began manufacturing that year. Its modules include TOPCon and PERC models.

A separate project is planned by 聯合再生 and 中美晶 (5483). 聯合再生 announced in July that the companies would establish a U.S. solar module plant with planned annual capacity of one gigawatt. Production is expected to start in 2027.

聯合再生 aims to make overseas markets a primary revenue source, with the United States as its main focus. The company is targeting rooftop installations, ground-mounted solar plants and AI data centers, while using local manufacturing to reduce direct competition with China’s solar supply chain.

The political backdrop is Democrats’ Nov. 3 midterm win and control of both chambers of Congress, which has raised market expectations for stronger clean-energy support.

Other Taiwan-based firms have taken a more cautious approach to U.S. manufacturing. 元晶 is evaluating the United States as a sales market but continues to prioritize production in Taiwan, citing the investment and technology-transition risks involved in building overseas capacity. About 10% of its revenue comes from overseas, mainly Japan.

倉和, a solar screen supplier, has identified the United States as its fastest-growing market as customers there expand solar cell production and demand for screens increases. 聯合再生’s U.S. plant is expected to begin production in 2027.
