Samsung Wallet has launched a way for eligible U.S. Galaxy users to buy and hold Circle-issued USD Coin (USDC) on Solana, extending access across about 82 million compatible devices.

Users can purchase, hold, send and receive USDC without a separate crypto app or managing private keys themselves. The service requires Android 13 or later and is available to U.S. residents 18 and older, except in New York.

Transfers to other Samsung Wallet users in the United States and compatible external crypto wallets carry no Samsung fee. Users can also send funds to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries; recipients may get local currency, and charges vary by destination. Credit-card deposits incur a 4% fee, while withdrawals to bank accounts or debit cards also carry fees.

Bastion, a licensed stablecoin custody and infrastructure provider, built the service with Coinbase. Coinbase holds USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault as Bastion’s subcustodian. First-time users who deposit at least $50 receive $25 in USDC.

Samsung first announced the feature Oct. 7, with plans to explore stablecoin payments online and in stores and consider expansion to additional markets where local rules permit.
