ABB said SoftBank informed it that Chinese regulators had blocked the planned acquisition of ABB’s robotics business, which SoftBank agreed to buy for $5.375 billion in October 2025.

China is ABB’s largest market for its robotics business. SoftBank has also weighed a possible Allied Universal acquisition as a way to test security robots.
