Core Scientific’s Mining Fleet Falls Nearly Half Before Planned Q4 2026 Exit
Hosting revenue reached $215 million in the third quarter, while the company plans to move to hosting-only operations in 2027.

Core Scientific’s active Bitcoin (BTC) mining fleet has dropped by nearly half since the end of 2025 ahead of its planned Q4 2026 shutdown and exit from self-mining.
The company plans to finish the exit during Q4 2026, then begin 2027 as a high-performance computing (HPC) hosting provider. That would end its self-operated Bitcoin mining and make hosting its stated operating model.
Hosting generated $215 million in third-quarter revenue, nearly 60% above the previous quarter, while EBITDA margin reached 57%. Those results show the scale of the business Core Scientific is emphasizing as its active mining fleet contracts.
Electricity supply is being redirected entirely to CoreWeave and AMD under contracts totaling 1.1 gigawatts. The fleet comparison is against the active machine count at year-end 2025, while the planned shutdown remains scheduled for Q4 2026. The next step is the Q4 shutdown, followed by the company’s planned hosting-only operation in 2027.
