Wonder said it confidentially filed for an initial public offering Thursday, Nov. 5, moving the food company closer to public markets after it raised more than $3 billion in venture funding.

Wonder founder Marc Lore started the company in 2018. It has grown to about 170 brick-and-mortar locations across the United States. Its app offers delivery and takeout, and its locations serve menu items from more than two dozen restaurant concepts, some with celebrity-chef branding.

Wonder has spent at least $1 billion on acquisitions, including Grubhub, Blue Apron and delivery and logistics provider Relay. Its Series D round earlier this year raised its pre-money valuation to $9 billion amid a funding and expansion push.

Lore said in September that proceeds from an IPO would help Wonder pursue more acquisitions and work toward its goal of making food more accessible.
