Microsoft is tightening its review of data center projects tied to IREN, Nebius and Nscale, including an IREN project in Texas that may face a delay.

The review covers some projects at the three neocloud companies. Microsoft is dropping developments it considers risky and discussing internally whether to sign new cloud service agreements.

Recent concerns include wiring at an IREN data center under development in Texas. Microsoft and IREN revised the project’s schedule last week, and completion could be delayed by several weeks or months.

A Microsoft spokesperson said adjusting plans as circumstances change is a normal part of managing large infrastructure projects. IREN declined to comment.

IREN and Nebius shares each fell about 20% Thursday. IREN began its shift from cryptocurrency mining toward AI in 2023, giving context to its Texas data center project and broader business transition.
