Harbinger Raises $240 Million as It Expands Into Defense
The Series D was co-led by Tiger Global, Capricorn’s technology impact fund and Ridgeline. FedEx also returned as an investor.

Harbinger raised $240 million in a Series D round as the Los Angeles electric truck maker expands into battery storage and defense applications, including a driverless platform for military use.
Tiger Global, Capricorn’s technology impact fund and defense-focused investor Ridgeline co-led the financing. FedEx invested again, alongside returning investors Maniv, Greycroft and Leitmotif. Fidelity Management also participated.
Harbinger’s previous financing was a $160 million Series C announced almost a year earlier. That round included an initial FedEx truck order. FedEx recently placed its first large order with Harbinger, for 2,000 trucks in a deal valued at more than $300 million. Paul Melander, FedEx’s senior vice president of safety and transportation, has joined Harbinger’s board.
Founded in 2022 by former employees of Canoo and QuantumScape, Harbinger began with an electric truck chassis. The company later acquired autonomy startup Phantom AI and began developing hybrid emergency vehicles. It has also revealed a driverless hybrid electric platform for military use.
