OpenAI President Greg Brockman said Wednesday he believes the company may be ready to go public in 2027, and separately outlined recent gains in its enterprise business.

Asked whether OpenAI could be ready to list next year, Brockman replied, “I think so. Yes.” He said the company plans to go public when it decides the timing is right. Brockman also described himself as highly confident in the business and its progress this year.

He called the first half of 2026 a difficult period for OpenAI. The company had Codex, but had not drawn attention in agentic coding, Brockman said. He said OpenAI kept working through that stretch and began to see stronger results later in the year.

Brockman said annualized revenue increased 70% from the second quarter to the third quarter, while the enterprise business doubled. He described the growth as the payoff from investments made before the quarter, rather than a result of activity confined to those three months.

Enterprise now generates most of OpenAI’s revenue, compared with about 30% previously, Brockman said. Consumer revenue also continued to rise. He pointed to a recent partnership with JPMorgan Chase as an example of the enterprise clients the company is winning.

Brockman said OpenAI learned to help businesses set meaningful goals for AI projects, build trust with customers and show it can serve as a dependable long-term partner. Those priorities reflect a shift in how the company approaches business customers, he said.

A year earlier, OpenAI was seen mainly as a consumer company, and prospective customers questioned whether it was committed to enterprise sales, Brockman said. He said that perception has since changed.
