Viatris Targets More Than $50 Million in Pacira Deal Synergies
The proposed $1.65 billion acquisition remains pending. Interim CFO Paul Campbell also gave a low- to mid-single-digit Greater China growth outlook for 2027.

Viatris set an annual cost-savings target above $50 million by the end of 2028 as its $1.65 billion Pacira deal remains pending.
The target came during Viatris’ Nov. 5 third-quarter earnings call. Interim CFO Paul Campbell said the company expects annual cost synergies above $50 million by the end of 2028. Viatris sees further savings as it completes the integration, but gave no estimate for those potential savings. The $50 million-plus figure is a target, not savings already realized.
Viatris agreed to acquire Pacira for $36.50 per share in cash, representing an equity value of $1.65 billion. The transaction would add Pacira’s EXPAREL and ZILRETTA pain medicines to Viatris’ portfolio. Pacira had $746 million in revenue and $177 million in adjusted EBITDA for the 12 months ended June 30, 2026. Viatris’ third-quarter results also included higher 2026 guidance.
Campbell also described a low- to mid-single-digit growth outlook for Greater China in 2027, closer to historical averages. He gave the range during the call’s question-and-answer session; it did not appear in the company’s written earnings release or presentation.
Greater China net sales were $702.6 million in the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with $615.2 million a year earlier. Sales rose 14% on a reported basis and 10% operationally, which excludes currency effects.
Campbell said a hospital-focused procurement policy had begun to moderate growth, particularly in the hospital channel. He expected a greater effect in the fourth quarter as more provinces implemented the policy, while varying provincial readiness and enforcement made its impact difficult to estimate precisely.
The acquisition remains subject to closing conditions, with closing expected by the end of November 2026.
