Tesla Plans to Wind Down Texas Cybertruck Output Around Mid-2027
The shift would free factory capacity for more Cybercab production. Tesla’s delivery figures group Cybertruck with other models.

Tesla plans to reduce Cybertruck assembly at its Texas factory to free capacity for Cybercab robotaxi production, CEO Elon Musk announced in a Nov. 6 post.
The announcement applies to Gigafactory Texas; it does not declare an end to Cybertruck production across Tesla. Musk described the capacity change as making room for “increased Cybercab production.”
Tesla delivered 8,295 vehicles in its “Other Models” category in Q3 2026, compared with 15,933 in Q3 2025, a decline of about 48%. The company does not separate Cybertruck units from the category, so the figures do not establish the pickup’s individual sales trend.
Tesla expects capital expenditures to exceed $20 billion in 2026, with spending on compute infrastructure, data centers, manufacturing and research facilities, among other initiatives. The company has also described investments in autonomy and robotics.
Cybertruck is Tesla’s stainless-steel electric pickup, while Cybercab is a planned robotaxi. The announced Texas production wind-down is planned for around mid-2027; Musk did not specify an exact date.
