Elutia Targets Q4 FDA Filing for Antibiotic-Coated NXT-41x Matrix

CEO Dr. Randy Mills projected a clearance decision in Q2 2027, within Elutia's broader first-half target. The reported antibacterial results came from a rabbit study.

Elutia plans a fourth-quarter 2026 filing with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its antibiotic-coated NXT-41x matrix, after a rabbit study met antibacterial endpoints, with a 2027 decision targeted.

Elutia targets a clearance decision in the first half of 2027. CEO Dr. Randy Mills gave a narrower estimate on Nov. 5: “From there, we anticipate a clearance decision in the second quarter of 2027.” Both timelines are subject to FDA review.

The GLP rabbit study tested NXT-41x against an 8-log challenge with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and a 6-log challenge with E. coli. It met its prespecified antibacterial endpoints, and no viable bacteria were recovered from the matrix or surrounding tissue.

NXT-41x is a biologic matrix with an antibiotic coating on one side, designed for plastic and reconstructive procedures. Elutia's base matrix, NXT-41, does not contain a drug and is under separate FDA review, with a decision expected in Q4 2026.

Elutia projects a commercial soft launch for NXT-41x in the second half of 2027 and a full launch in 2028. The FDA submission remains planned for Q4 2026.
