Nvidia Shares Fall More Than 2% After Huang Apologizes to Staff

The board said it will hire outside lawyers for an independent investigation. Nvidia said Huang will continue as CEO without interruption.

Nvidia shares fell more than 2% in off-hours trading after CEO Jensen Huang apologized to all Nvidia employees for being unfaithful to his wife, as the board announced an independent investigation.

In a message sent to employees, Huang said he accepted full responsibility for his conduct. He also wrote that he was fully committed to Nvidia and would work to regain trust. The apology concerned his personal conduct, while the board’s statement described a separate review.

The board said it was beginning an independent investigation and would hire outside lawyers to conduct it. It also expressed confidence in Huang and his leadership team. Nvidia’s spokesperson said the review would not slow the company and that Huang would continue leading Nvidia as CEO without interruption.

The announcements paired a formal review of the chief executive with the board’s expression of support and the company’s assurance that day-to-day leadership would remain unchanged.
