Bitcoin analyst Luke Broyles predicts the journey to mine the final Satoshi—the smallest unit of Bitcoin—will be unlike anything seen in digital history. Broyles claims that the energy needed to mine the last Bitcoin could surpass the combined energy used to mine the first 20 million BTC. He suggests that producing the final coin may consume resources well into the first third of the 22nd century. Broyles even describes the final Satoshi as requiring "infinite energy" to create, possibly a figurative statement, highlighting Bitcoin’s model of extreme digital scarcity and escalating mining difficulty.

Currently, 19.85 million Bitcoins have been mined out of the 21 million total supply, leaving about 1.15 million BTC yet to be mined. Bitcoin’s halving events, which occur roughly every four years, continue to reduce mining rewards and increase difficulty. The latest halving cut rewards to 3.125 BTC per block, with the next set to lower it further to 1.5625 BTC.

Bitcoin’s finite supply ensures that mining the remaining coins will take over a century, with the final Bitcoin expected to be mined around 2140. Afterward, no new Bitcoin will be created; miners will sustain themselves through transaction fees to maintain the network's integrity.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at $94,181, having previously hit an all-time high of $109,114 in January. With scarcity and energy requirements intensifying, Bitcoin’s future continues to captivate investors and miners alike, reinforcing its value proposition as a truly finite digital asset.
