Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has flagged a suspicious X (formerly Twitter) account called "Rashid bin Saeed" as a fake persona allegedly engineered to farm engagement and manipulate unsuspecting users into crypto pump-and-dump schemes. Despite claiming to be US-based, the account only received verification in February 2026 and has cycled through three different usernames since January 2025 — red flags that signal coordinated inauthentic behavior.
The account gained viral traction after posting a fabricated thread alleging that Iran had released a list of 12 civilian infrastructure targets — including desalination plants, nuclear facilities, and power stations across six countries — to strike if the US attacked its power grid. No credible sources have corroborated these claims. The account has since amassed over 353,000 followers, demonstrating how misinformation spreads rapidly in volatile information environments.
A potentially linked Telegram channel actively promotes the meme coin Chibification (CHIBI), leveraging Elon Musk references to drive interest. CoinGecko data shows CHIBI carries a market cap of just over $3.9 million and has shed more than 23% of its value within a single 24-hour window — hallmarks of a low-liquidity token vulnerable to coordinated manipulation.
ZachXBT has exposed nearly identical playbooks before. In a July 2025 investigation, he traced an $11 million token dump to influencer "Crypto Beast," whose engagement farming preceded a devastating 97% price collapse in the ALT token.
The scheme emerges as the broader crypto market sits deep in fear territory. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index registered a reading of just 8 on March 23 — levels last recorded during the FTX collapse in late 2022 — with extreme fear persisting for over 34 consecutive days. Fearful markets amplify sensational narratives, giving bad actors wider reach and greater influence over retail investors.
Amid rising geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic uncertainty, ZachXBT's warning is timely: always verify accounts and scrutinize token promotions before engaging, especially during periods of peak market anxiety.
