XRP Ledger users have been urged to remain vigilant as scammers increasingly impersonate trusted organizations within the crypto ecosystem to steal funds and sensitive account information.

XRPL Commons issued a security warning to the XRP community on Friday after identifying a growing number of malicious impersonation attempts involving individuals falsely claiming to represent the organization.

The XRP Ledger-focused group warned users to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited direct messages from accounts presenting themselves as members of XRPL Commons. The organization stressed that it will never initiate a private conversation asking users to provide money, banking information, private keys, or cryptocurrency wallet seed phrases.

Any account requesting such information while claiming to represent XRPL Commons should be treated as potentially fraudulent, the team said. Users who encounter suspected impersonators are encouraged to report the accounts immediately.

The warning comes as crypto scams continue to evolve, with attackers frequently impersonating legitimate companies, developers, exchanges, and community organizations. These schemes often rely on social engineering techniques designed to convince victims that fraudulent requests are coming from trusted sources.

XRP holders and other XRPL users can reduce their exposure to such attacks by independently verifying messages before taking action. XRPL Commons advised community members to avoid interacting with suspicious senders, particularly when messages involve requests for funds or confidential wallet credentials.

Users should instead block and report suspicious accounts to prevent further communication. Private keys and seed phrases should never be disclosed to anyone, as access to these credentials can allow attackers to take control of a cryptocurrency wallet and transfer its assets.

The latest XRPL Commons security alert highlights the continued importance of wallet security across the cryptocurrency industry. As scammers adopt increasingly convincing impersonation tactics, XRP Ledger users are being encouraged to verify identities carefully and remain skeptical of unsolicited messages involving financial or sensitive information.
