Josh Brown and Sean Russo discussed ConocoPhillips, Devon Energy and Occidental Petroleum in a Nov. 2 market commentary, with the companies’ recent results and Devon’s pending asset sale providing context for the three stocks.

ConocoPhillips’ second-quarter adjusted earnings were $3.24 per share. Cash from operations totaled $7.2 billion, and shareholder distributions reached $3 billion. The company’s 2026 target is to return 45% of cash from operations.

On Oct. 8, Devon signed a $4.2 billion cash deal to divest its Eagle Ford assets to Crescent Energy; the final amount may change at closing. The assets represented about 4% of Devon’s production. The sale was expected to close around year-end 2026, pending approvals and other conditions.

Occidental Petroleum reported $3 billion in free cash flow before working capital and $11.8 billion in principal debt for the second quarter. These figures, along with ConocoPhillips’ results, give financial context for the companies discussed.
