Bitcoin Holds Near Record High Ahead of 2025 Las Vegas Conference

Bitcoin traded slightly lower early Tuesday, hovering just below its recent all-time high as investors awaited key updates from the 2025 Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas. As of 01:58 ET, Bitcoin slipped 0.6% to $108,962.20, consolidating after last week’s surge to nearly $112,000. The modest decline came amid profit-taking and large-scale “whale” trades following the record-setting rally.

Despite the pullback, sentiment remains bullish, supported by growing optimism around crypto regulation and institutional adoption. U.S. lawmakers advanced the GENIUS Act, aiming to establish a national regulatory framework for stablecoins. At the same time, Hong Kong passed a major stablecoin bill introducing licensing requirements for fiat-referenced issuers. These moves reinforced confidence in a more structured and mainstream crypto environment.

Further fueling optimism, reports suggest major U.S. banks are exploring a collaborative stablecoin initiative—marking a potential shift in Wall Street’s stance on digital assets.

Attention now turns to the Bitcoin 2025 Conference, kicking off May 27 at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas. The event is set to be the largest of its kind, featuring over 400 speakers, 5,000 companies, and more than 30,000 attendees. Prominent speakers include Michael Saylor, Justin Sun, Jack Mallers, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Senator Cynthia Lummis, and SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce.

Meanwhile, Trump Media denied a Financial Times report about a $3 billion crypto investment plan, calling the claims baseless.

Altcoins mirrored Bitcoin’s softness. Ethereum dropped 0.5% to $2,558.52, while XRP slid 2.3%. Solana, Cardano, and Polygon lost between 1.9% and 3%. Meme coins also retreated, with Dogecoin down 1.8% and $TRUMP falling 2%.
