Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency, recorded its strongest July performance in three years, soaring over 50% and briefly peaking at $3,940 before settling below $3,800. This marks the biggest monthly rally since July 2022, when ETH rebounded from the market collapse triggered by Terra-Luna and Celsius.

Unlike previous rallies, this surge was driven by massive institutional inflows. U.S.-listed spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted $5.4 billion in net inflows in July, their best streak since launching last year, according to SoSoValue data. Corporate treasuries also joined the accumulation wave, with public companies adding $6.2 billion worth of ETH to their balance sheets, CEX.io data shows. Notable participants include Bitmine, SharpLink, and new entrants like ETHZilla and Ether Machine, which have raised significant capital for ETH purchases.

Ethereum’s rally coincides with growing demand for stablecoins and tokenized assets. Over half of the $250 billion stablecoin supply is issued on Ethereum, and new U.S. regulations under the Genius Act provide clarity that could strengthen ETH’s position as the backbone of dollar-pegged tokens.

Currently, ETH faces strong resistance near $4,000 — a level it struggled to break in past cycles. Analysts warn the crypto market is entering a historically quieter phase, which could lead to short-term consolidation. However, prominent investor Bob Loukas suggests ETH could still extend gains toward $4,700 if momentum continues.

Ethereum’s 10-year milestone, combined with regulatory clarity and institutional adoption, positions it as a key proxy for the evolving digital asset and tokenization market — potentially setting the stage for the next major breakout.
