Giggle Academy, a free blockchain-based education platform supported by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), has raised $880,000 within just two hours of opening donations. The funding surge came through the newly launched GIGGLE token, which began as a meme coin but quickly evolved into a community-driven education initiative.
The movement gained traction when crypto trader Rune suggested on X (Twitter) that meme coins could be used for charitable purposes. He cited examples such as Vitalik Buterin’s Shiba Inu donation and WaterCoin’s funding for MrBeast’s clean water campaign. The idea resonated immediately, with donations flowing in at one point at $1,000 per minute. Around $56,000 was generated directly from GIGGLE token trading fees.
Unlike earlier meme coin charity efforts, GIGGLE adopts a more structured approach by sending contributions in BNB instead of its own token. This prevents liquidity issues and ensures smoother distribution of funds. CZ clarified that donations received in meme coins would be converted into major altcoins before being utilized. He also cautioned token holders to expect selling pressure as part of this process.
Giggle Academy’s mission is to provide free, high-quality education funded entirely by community contributions. The platform stated that donations would support community growth, creator incentives, ecosystem development, and promotional efforts. All funds will be managed transparently on-chain with public reports for accountability.
The GIGGLE token itself has attracted attention in the markets, surging over 400% on PancakeSwap before retracing but still maintaining a 164% gain. While volatility reflects the speculative nature of meme coins, in this case, it is fueling a tangible project with real-world impact. CZ emphasized that ongoing donations could help Giggle Academy overcome its zero-revenue model and expand educational access globally.
