Hyperliquid (HYPE) continues to rank among the strongest-performing cryptocurrencies in 2026, recently climbing to a new all-time high near $76. While the overall trend remains firmly bullish, several technical indicators suggest the token could be approaching an overheated phase, increasing the chances of a short-term correction or consolidation before another upward move.
Since March, HYPE has maintained a powerful uptrend, consistently posting higher highs and higher lows. The asset remains comfortably above its key moving averages, with the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages aligned in a classic bullish formation. This setup reflects strong market confidence and sustained buying pressure.
However, the current price action shows a significant gap between HYPE and its major moving averages. With HYPE trading above $72 and the 50-day moving average sitting near $57, the market may be stretched in the short term. Such large deviations often encourage profit-taking as traders secure gains and new buyers hesitate to enter at elevated price levels.
Momentum indicators also point to potential overheating. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has climbed above 76, placing HYPE firmly in overbought territory. Although strong assets can remain overbought for extended periods, readings above 70 frequently signal that a cooling-off phase may be approaching.
Despite these cautionary signals, there are currently no clear signs of a major trend reversal. Trading volume remains healthy, moving averages continue to rise, and buyers have repeatedly stepped in during previous pullbacks. These factors suggest that any decline would likely represent a healthy market reset rather than the start of a prolonged downturn.
For long-term bulls, a period of consolidation between $65 and $75 could prove beneficial. Such price stabilization would allow momentum indicators to reset, strengthen support levels, and create a more sustainable foundation for future gains. As a result, Hyperliquid remains one of the most closely watched crypto assets, with investors monitoring whether the next move will be another breakout or a short-term pause in its impressive rally.
