Circle stock (CRCL) climbed to $68.18 on Monday, August 10, extending its recent recovery as investors prepared for a crucial U.S. inflation report. Bitcoin also strengthened, trading above $65,000 as markets reassessed Federal Reserve interest-rate expectations.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release July Consumer Price Index (CPI) data at 8:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, August 12. Economists expect annual headline inflation to ease to 3.4%. A softer-than-expected CPI reading could strengthen expectations for lower interest rates and support risk assets, including Circle stock and Bitcoin. However, hotter inflation could reduce rate-cut expectations and revive concerns about tighter Federal Reserve policy.

The CPI report comes after weak U.S. employment data raised concerns about the labor market. The unemployment rate stood at 4.1%, while nonfarm payrolls declined by 23,000 jobs in July. May and June payroll figures were also revised lower by a combined 103,000 jobs. Meanwhile, average hourly earnings increased 3.2% year over year, suggesting wage pressures remain.

Several other U.S. economic reports could drive crypto and stock market volatility this week. Existing home sales are due Tuesday, followed by CPI on Wednesday. Thursday brings the Producer Price Index (PPI) and initial jobless claims, while retail sales and Michigan consumer sentiment data are scheduled for Friday. Together, these reports could reshape expectations for the Fed’s next policy moves.

Circle stock gained 5.36% during Monday’s regular session and advanced another 3% in pre-market trading. CRCL now faces short-term resistance near $68.50. A decisive breakout could open the door to $70, followed by a stronger resistance zone around $72.

On the downside, $67.50 remains an important level for maintaining the bullish short-term setup. A drop below it could expose support near $65, with further weakness potentially pushing CRCL toward $63.28.

With Bitcoin also sensitive to interest-rate expectations, Wednesday’s CPI report could become the week’s biggest catalyst for both CRCL and crypto prices.
