Solana is seeing a sharp rise in institutional demand and onchain activity, even as SOL price remains well below its historic peak. U.S. spot Solana ETFs have recorded inflows for five consecutive sessions, pushing cumulative net inflows to a record $1.22 billion.
Data from Farside Investors shows Bitwise’s BSOL accounts for the majority of Solana ETF inflows. However, the heavy concentration in a single fund remains a potential concern. ETF flows have also been volatile throughout 2026, including a six-day period in August when the products recorded no net movement.
Solana ETFs began trading in late October 2025, with much of the total investment arriving during their first two months. Flows subsequently remained relatively flat for about six months, while Tuttle’s TSOL has experienced persistent net outflows.
Meanwhile, Solana network activity has reached new highs. The blockchain processed a record 4.2 billion transactions in July, representing a 13.5% increase from June and a 91% jump compared with December 2025.
Greater network capacity helped support the surge. Solana increased its block limits by 66% in July, raising capacity from 60 million to 100 million compute units. Tokenized real-world assets on Solana have also climbed to $3.73 billion, with more than 313,000 addresses holding such assets.
Renewed meme coin trading provided another boost. Weekly Solana meme coin spot volume reached $5.2 billion in mid-August, its highest level of 2026, after falling to roughly $1.8 billion in late May.
Despite record ETF inflows and transaction activity, SOL price has yet to recover its previous highs. Solana trades near $96, down 2.36% over the past 24 hours and about 49% from a year earlier. Although SOL has rallied 24% over the past week, it remains roughly 67% below its $293.31 all-time high.
Investors are now watching the upcoming Alpenglow upgrade, designed to improve Solana’s transaction finality. Strong ETF demand, record network usage and rising trading activity could provide support, but whether those trends translate into a sustained SOL price recovery remains uncertain.
