XRP could defy the crypto market’s historically weak September performance as favorable price patterns, institutional demand and potential regulatory developments strengthen its outlook.

September has traditionally been a difficult month for cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin. However, technical analyst Xaif Crypto highlighted an unusual historical trend for XRP. Since 2018, XRP has recorded five positive September closes compared with three negative ones, producing an average return of about 12.19%.

The historical performance suggests XRP may be better positioned than some major cryptocurrencies to withstand seasonal selling pressure. Technical signals are also attracting attention after XRP, Bitcoin and Stellar (XLM) formed similar weekly setups toward the end of August.

All three cryptocurrencies rebounded from recent local lows and are attempting to reclaim important price levels. XRP’s key support sits around $1.35, while Bitcoin has held near $77,600. Maintaining these levels could strengthen the case for another upward move as September trading begins.

Institutional demand provides another potential catalyst. According to SoSoValue data cited in the original report, spot XRP ETFs attracted a record $110.49 million in weekly net inflows, lifting total assets under management to approximately $1.44 billion. Goldman Sachs also disclosed more than $86 million in XRP ETF exposure through its 13F filing.

Regulatory developments could further influence XRP price action. A key Senate vote related to the CLARITY Act is scheduled for Sept. 15, putting U.S. crypto regulation back in focus. Greater legal clarity around digital assets could improve sentiment toward XRP and other major cryptocurrencies.

Traders are also watching Ripple’s scheduled Sept. 1 escrow release of 1 billion XRP. While large token unlocks can raise concerns about additional supply, Ripple has historically returned a substantial portion of released XRP to escrow. Typically, between 600 million and 800 million tokens are placed back into new escrow contracts.

With XRP ETF inflows rising, technical support holding and regulatory catalysts approaching, XRP enters September with several bullish factors. If historical trends repeat, the token could once again challenge the broader crypto market’s reputation for September weakness.
