Bitcoin Liquidations Top $60 Million as Crypto Market Hits $230 Million
More than $223 million in long positions were liquidated during the hour, compared with $7.35 million in short positions.
Bitcoin (BTC) liquidations exceeded $60 million in one hour on Sept. 23 as total crypto-market liquidations reached $230 million, signaling heavy forced selling across major digital assets.
BTC liquidations totaled $60.88 million during the hour ending at 10:26 a.m. ET (14:26 UTC). Ether (ETH) liquidations reached $59.91 million over the same period.
Long positions accounted for $223 million of the total liquidations, while short positions represented $7.35 million. The figures show that most of the forced closures came from traders positioned for prices to rise.
The one-hour tally captures liquidated positions across the crypto market rather than a change in spot-market holdings. Bitcoin and Ether together represented more than half of the reported total.
