Bitcoin Clears $80,000 as Institutional Flows Back Rally
Bitcoin reached $87,300 before analysts split over whether narrowing market breadth and rising leverage will limit further gains.

Bitcoin (BTC) recently moved above $80,000 and briefly reached $87,300, with institutional demand and strong spot exchange-traded fund inflows supporting the advance.
Analysts remain divided over the rally’s durability. Some view the current cycle low as established, pointing to a smaller and shorter pullback than those seen during the major bear markets of 2013, 2017 and 2021. Bitcoin also has room to catch up with gold and U.S. stocks, they argue.
Other analysts are more cautious. Recent trading volume has declined, market breadth has narrowed and leverage in derivatives markets has increased, conditions that may leave Bitcoin exposed to profit-taking or a temporary pullback.
The $87,000 to $88,000 area is being watched as near-term resistance, with $84,000 to $85,000 and $80,000 seen as support levels. Regulatory developments also improved sentiment, including the SEC’s innovation exemption and CFTC rulemaking, while uncertainty around the Federal Reserve’s rate decision and the CLARITY Act vote eased.
Tom Lee, founder of Fundstrat, said the crypto bull market has begun, citing renewed AI-related capital flows into crypto, improving fundamentals around tokenization and AI, and the end of the four-year cycle.
