CME Group plans to launch Uniswap (UNI) futures Oct. 19, subject to regulatory review, as two wallet addresses bought a combined 407,919 UNI valued at about $4.07 million.

The planned products would expand CME’s cryptocurrency derivatives lineup with standard UNI futures representing 10,000 UNI and Micro UNI futures representing 1,000 UNI. The contracts would trade on a CFTC-regulated derivatives venue.

“As crypto markets continue to mature, participants require broader, regulated tools to navigate evolving digital asset related price risk,” Giovanni Vicioso, global head of cryptocurrency products at CME Group, said.

The planned launch follows a sharp move in UNI, which reached approximately $10.43 on Sept. 23 after rising 15.17%. The move brought the token near a weekly resistance area around $11.

Two wallet addresses bought 269,477 UNI valued at about $2.84 million and 138,442 UNI valued at about $1.23 million. The owners and intentions behind the addresses were not established.

Market indicators accompanying the move showed continued buyer dominance in spot-market activity, while futures activity shifted from seller dominance toward neutral. A Whale-versus-Retail Delta reading of 0.192 indicated stronger whale activity than retail activity.

Weekly relative strength index stood at 75.98, while the moving average convergence-divergence line was 1.020 against a signal line of 0.254. A move above $11 and a possible advance toward approximately $15 were presented as technical-analysis scenarios, not confirmed outcomes.

CME’s UNI futures launch remains subject to regulatory review, with trading scheduled to begin Oct. 19 if approved.
