Noncommercial Traders Raise CME Bitcoin Net Long Position to 2,756

Noncommercial traders increased their net long position by 288 contracts as total open interest rose to 22,315 contracts as of Sept. 22, 2026.

Noncommercial traders increased their net long position in standard Bitcoin (BTC) futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to 2,756 contracts as of Sept. 22, 2026, while total open interest rose to 22,315 contracts.

The net long position increased by 288 contracts from the previous week. Noncommercial traders held 17,658 long contracts and 14,902 short contracts.

Total open interest rose by 1,542 contracts from Sept. 15. Each standard CME Bitcoin futures contract represents 5 BTC, making the noncommercial net position equivalent to 13,780 BTC in net contract exposure. The calculation excludes spread positions and notional-value calculations.

Commercial traders held 66 long contracts and 3,175 short contracts, leaving them with a net short position of 3,109 contracts.

Leveraged funds held 4,745 outright long contracts and 12,698 outright short contracts. Their outright position was net short 7,953 contracts, while they also held 2,725 spreading contracts.

The weekly Commitments of Traders figures generally reflect positions at the close of business Tuesday. The report was released Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m. ET (19:30 UTC).

The figures cover standard Bitcoin futures rather than CME Micro Bitcoin futures. Micro contracts represent 0.10 BTC, compared with 5 BTC for each standard contract.
