Plasma made approximately 1.76 billion Plasma (XPL) transferable on Sept. 25, a scheduled release equal to 17.6% of the token’s initial supply and 63.2% of its circulating supply.

The tokens became transferable at 8 a.m. ET (noon UTC). The release amount listed for the event was 1,755,530,000 XPL.

The event combined the first one-third unlock for Plasma’s team and investor allocations after a one-year cliff with a monthly ecosystem release. Each of the team and investor allocations totals 2.5 billion XPL. After the cliff, the remaining two-thirds of each allocation is scheduled to unlock monthly over two years.

The release’s estimated value varies across the available figures. The estimates are $144.08 million, approximately $160 million and $197.60 million, so no single dollar value is definitive.

The size of the release makes it significant relative to the existing tradable supply. A token unlock makes assets transferable, but the event does not establish how many tokens recipients sold, transferred to exchanges or retained.

XPL is Plasma’s native asset, used for transactions and validator rewards. Plasma’s initial supply is set at 10 billion XPL, allocated across ecosystem and growth, team, investors and public-sale categories.

The team and investor schedules continue with monthly releases over the next two years after the one-year cliff. The next scheduled unlocks will therefore add further transferable supply under the published vesting structure.
