Bitcoin (BTC) pulled back toward $84,000 as renewed Middle East tensions pressured risk assets.

BTC had climbed above $87,000 during the week after gaining about $20,000 since mid-August. The retreat followed renewed concern that the conflict between the United States and Iran could continue after the November midterm elections.

Iran’s proposal called for a seven-day process to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end attacks in the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, “If there is seriousness on the US side to come to a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, everything is now prepared.”

The latest development reverses expectations created by President Donald Trump’s earlier claim that the war would end immediately after the elections. Bitcoin’s next move remains tied to developments on the US-Iran front, which has repeatedly affected the cryptocurrency’s price since the conflict began in late February.
