Bitcoin (BTC) has gained about 43% in the third quarter, putting it on pace for its second-best Q3 performance since 2013 as the quarter approaches its Sept. 30 close.

The advance trails Bitcoin’s 80.41% gain in Q3 2017. Other strong third-quarter performances during the period were a 40.60% gain in 2013, a 25.01% increase in 2021 and a 17.97% rise in 2020.

The quarterly gain reverses losses from the first half of 2026. Bitcoin fell about 22.2% in the first quarter and 14.09% in the second quarter.

Because Q3 has not ended, the final quarterly return remains subject to change through Sept. 30.
