The U.S. jobs report will headline the week ahead, with its payroll, unemployment and wage readings scheduled before the Federal Reserve’s October policy meeting.

The Friday report will cover nonfarm payrolls, the unemployment rate and average hourly earnings. The three measures provide a broad view of hiring, labor-market conditions and wage growth.

Other major U.S. releases are scheduled throughout the week. September ADP employment data and the August core personal consumption expenditures price index annual rate are due Wednesday. Initial jobless claims through Sept. 26 are scheduled for Thursday.

Federal Reserve officials are scheduled to make public appearances from early Wednesday through Friday, adding a series of policy comments to the economic calendar.

Corporate earnings will provide another focus. Micron Technology is scheduled to release its results after the market closes Wednesday, followed by Nike’s latest quarterly report Thursday. The companies represent the memory-chip and consumer-demand themes in the week’s market calendar.
