Bitcoin Heads for Third Straight Monthly Gain After About 7% Rise

Bitcoin traded near $84,000 early Sept. 29 after gaining 25% in August. A positive September close would extend monthly gains from July through September.

Bitcoin (BTC) is on track for a third consecutive monthly gain after rising about 7% in September, extending its advance after a 25% increase in August.

BTC was trading at approximately $84,000 at 5:45 a.m. ET (09:45 UTC) on Sept. 29. A positive monthly close would extend Bitcoin’s gains from July through September.

The third quarter ends Sept. 30, when Bitcoin’s quarterly performance will be finalized. September’s advance follows Bitcoin’s broader recovery during the quarter.

Energy prices remain part of the broader U.S. economic backdrop. Brent crude averaged $91 per barrel in August, while the Energy Information Administration forecast an average of about $90 per barrel for the second half of 2026.

The next regularly scheduled U.S. federal general election is Nov. 3.

Bitcoin’s monthly performance will be determined when September trading ends, with the third quarter closing on Sept. 30.
