Bitcoin (BTC) posted a modest rebound Sept. 29, but perpetual-futures funding rates across major centralized and decentralized exchanges remained neutral to slightly bearish, signaling that derivatives positioning has not turned bullish.

Funding rates are payments exchanged between long and short traders in perpetual-futures markets. They help keep contract prices aligned with the underlying asset, with the exchange of payments adjusting the cost of holding positions.

A funding rate of 0.01% is considered the baseline. Readings above that level generally indicate bullish positioning, while rates below 0.005% point to broadly bearish positioning.

The latest rates remained below the 0.01% baseline after Bitcoin’s move higher. That suggests the spot-market rebound has not brought stronger demand for leveraged long positions, leaving short positions relatively inexpensive to hold.
