Tether Mints $494.6 Million in Gold-Backed XAUT Tokens
The issuance adds to Tether’s tokenized-gold supply, with XAUT backed one-to-one by physical gold in Swiss vaults.

Tether minted $494,574,412 worth of its gold-backed XAUT token, adding a sizable amount to the supply of tokenized commodity assets.
XAUT is backed one-to-one by physical gold held in Swiss vaults. The latest issuance was larger than the approximately $437 million of new XAUT issued during August 2025.
Tokenized-gold assets grew from about $2.5 billion in September 2025 to $5.27 billion in early 2026. XAUT accounted for roughly half of that market, while the token has also been approved for compliant use in El Salvador.
The issuance expands the amount of gold represented on-chain through Tether’s product.
