Algorand Pulls Back to $0.12 After Brief Rally to $0.14

ALGO fell about 10% in 24 hours as derivatives activity weakened. The move coincided with attention on a Global x402 Challenge offering $100,000 and 500,000 ALGO in prizes.

Algorand (ALGO) fell about 10% over 24 hours to roughly $0.12 as of 6 a.m. ET (10:00 UTC) Sept. 30, pulling back after briefly reaching about $0.14.

A separate market reading placed ALGO at $0.1251, down 7.20% over 24 hours as of 11:36 p.m. ET Sept. 29, with $134.98 million in trading volume. The readings were taken at different times and may reflect different market coverage and pricing methods.

Derivatives open interest declined 20% to $76 million, while derivatives volume fell 67% to $129 million. The data points to weaker activity in ALGO derivatives as the token retreated from its recent high.

The move coincided with attention on Algorand’s Global x402 Challenge, a competition focused on payments for artificial-intelligence agents. The challenge includes a $100,000 prize pool and 500,000 ALGO for the top 20 leaderboard positions.

Participants must deploy paid x402 endpoints on Algorand Mainnet, process at least one real Mainnet payment and generate usage tracked on a leaderboard. The initiative covers paid API and digital-service transactions involving AI agents, including data, computing, verification and automated actions.

Payments settle through Algorand Mainnet and are handled through the GoPlausible facilitator. The challenge drew attention during the rally, but the available information does not establish that it caused ALGO’s price increase.

The move fits a broader market narrative around tokens associated with institutional infrastructure, while the latest price action has put the earlier advance under pressure.

Submissions for the Global x402 Challenge were due Sept. 30, 2026.
