Ether (ETH) saw $14.24 million in short positions liquidated in the hour through 8:31 p.m. ET (00:31 UTC) on Oct. 1, while its price climbed 1.02% from $2,718 to $2,746.

The total liquidation tally was $14.39 million, including $150,000 in long positions. The figures cover public liquidation data collected and combined from Binance, Bybit and OKX; they do not represent the entire market.

Liquidations occur when exchanges automatically close leveraged positions that can no longer meet margin requirements. Short positions lose value when prices rise, while long positions are exposed when prices fall.
