Ether (ETH) rose 1.53% in the hour to $2,769 on Binance’s ETH/USDT spot market at 5:21 p.m. ET on Oct. 2, while liquidations during that hour were heavily concentrated among short positions.

The price had been $2,727 an hour earlier. Ether was up 3.38% over 24 hours. The prices and percentage changes are based on TokenPost’s direct collection and calculation of exchange quotes.

Across Binance, Bybit and OKX, short liquidations totaled $17.12 million during the hour, compared with $110,000 in long liquidations. Liquidations occur when exchanges close leveraged positions that can no longer meet margin requirements.

Ether ranked as the second-largest crypto asset by market capitalization, at about $334.6 billion.
